Monofilament mesh bags are offered in woven nylon or polypropylene threads. The single filaments, though somewhat more expensive, have excellent strength and are easily washable.

Multifilament mesh materials are manufactured from polyester threads made from small fibers twisted together. Bags made from polyester mesh come with a lower cost, but will not tolerate pressure as well as monofilament bags. Although nylon monofilament is available in low micron retentions, (ratings below 100 microns are expensive) polyester or polypropylene felt bags are normally used as “polishing” filters.

Felt filter bags are made from polypropylene or polyester fibers that have been needled to produce a felt mat that has a measurable particle retention. Available in: 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, and 200 microns
